If you are looking for hilly terrains that can be covered in 4-5 days from lucknow then I would say visit uttaranchal, you can either cover Kumaon region(base nainital/bhimtal) or the garhwal (Base Dehradun) region.
I can answer most of your questions and help you devise an itinerary but it would help plan better if you can provide the following details:
1. How do you plan to travel, by road or rail or air?
2. Are you interested in adventure tourism or Luxury tourism.
3. Are you travelling with family and kids or friends.
4. Your Budgets – Backpacker, normal, flamboyant?
