Oops … forgot to add that, you can’t go by road but by Air in April but Air fare is very interesting compared to June-Aug fare. Check it out. Its a lovely serene quite place in April. You will surely love it. I really want more and more people to enjoy Leh in April.

April is not a tough month at all….to be in Leh. Don’t worry. One can very surely make his travel plans to be there in this month provided you have booked a good stay and have good winter cloths. Its not at all terrible to be there in April. Most of the day time are very pleasant with 7-13 degree with some days having exceptional cool weather due to rain and mild storm. Nights are a bit cold but tolerable with razaies etc. Its nice to be indoor during a bit bad weather days enjoying the cool climate outside. I was there from 15 to 20th of April 2010 enjoyed my trip to most of the monasteries. I could have reached Pangong Lake, Kardungla too but avoided due to short of time. Being first time i was also scared of climate and booked for a few days. But i made a mistake we can be there as long as we want in april. So advice all Indians interested to save money to go there provided you like to be there with only few tourists and no pooja and festivals over there.

Going by air, you’ll miss the adventure of a 487 KM absolutely “MAST” drive through the most beautiful track i’ve ever driven on…

Two routes –

1) Manali – Leh (Best in terms of extreme driving adventure (Baralacha La) / naural beauty (Sarch – Pang) / some of the highest roads streches in the world (Tanglang La))
Delhi – Ambala – Chandigarh – Kullu – Manali – Rohtang – Keylong – Darcha – Baralacha La – Sarchu – Pang – Tanglang La – Upshi – Karu – Leh
Only one fuel station – between Keyong to Upshi. We borrowed fuel from a IOCL oil tanker truck

2) Srinagar – Leh (Good in terms of covering many significant palces in a single trip – Jammu / Srinagar / Kargil
No idea…

plan your trip well… places like Pangong take the entire day… & stuff like monasteries & Hall Of Fame are worth full day as well… then of course Khardung La & further on Nubra valley…
What I mean is have your places of interest prioritized well in advance…
