    Hi Himanshu,

    You are welcome in Lucknow.

Lucknow have a rich cultural heritage to see and experience. Although there might be less adventure travel options but I would sincerely recommend you to take this visit as a journey into the past culture of India.

2 Days are although not enough but also not less to visit some prominent historical places here. The city is not very big but of a medium size. So as per your pocket you can hire a full time taxi or also an auto on need basis.

You can also roam around in Vikram ( a popular brand of shared auto ) at a very very cheap price.

You Must visit I repeat Must – Bada and chhota Imambara. The world famous ‘Bhul Bhulaiyan’ (Labyrinth) is a part of Bada Imambara complex. People still get lost here :) so use a guide properly.

Other places : Picture Gallery, Chattar Manzil, State Museum etc

One popular place is Residency ( A garden of Mughal period ) but it has lost its touch. Currently there is nothing but a lawn and its also not a safe place.

In Markets – the main and very nice market is Hazratganj which you must visit ( specially at night ). HazratGanj is so popular that there is a properly coined hinglish word – GANJING – which means going and roaming around in HazratGanj.

Number two is Aminabad Market. 3rd is Chowk ( Old Lucknow market ). You can visit all these three in approx 5-6 hours comfortably

You must be knowing about the art of Chicken Embroidery and special Lakhnawi Zardozi, which are some of the best things you can buy here.

Lucknow is also famous for its TehZeeb and very polite language – but those two things you might not find now as very few people follows that.. so don’t be shocked to see rude language and behaviors amongst locals also :)

There are lot of other things you can do .. ( I am sure your host will guide you ).

    Enjoy
    Gaurav ( Lucknow )

    Hi Himanshu,

If you are a fodie and a non veggie then you would love the kebabs and tikkas of lucknow. They are Mughal delicacies.
Some places which are famous for these:
    Dastharkwan near Tulsi theatre,
    Alzaiqa near Novelty theatre,
Lalbagh, many roadside hotels near Aminabad and
old Chowk offer cheap and unique type of dishes.

The famous Tundey’s Kebabs are available at Aminabad & now at much convenient location of Food Court, Sharaganj Mall. Apart from the roadside hotels in Aminabad, Tundae which has been serving kebabs for more than 50 years is a place of must visit.

If you want to be a little adventurous, you can go to Akbari Gate (any public transportation will take you there). This is in the heart of Old Lucknow. Here you can to Haji Sahib’s shop for the juiciest Nihari (Lamb shanks in gravy) and Kulchha (a traditional bread). This is the best in the city and is only available between 7-10am.
