Karela / Cochin for a weekend from bangalore?

I am heading to India for work and amd keen to get out and do something for the 2 weekends that we are there. Someone has suggested flights to Cochin which is near Karela as a possibility? is this doable for a weekend? can anyone suggest a good town to go near there?

We would also like to get to the Taj mahal on the other weekend if possible, but not sure if that will be possible with amount of time we have. Any info would be great!

Cochin is doable from Bangalore but in just a weekend I’m not sure how much of it you can take in. The flight from Bangalore to Cochin takes about an hour and you could check out Jet Airways, Air Deccan or Kingfisher Airlines for good rates. For a more adventurous journey, you could hop on to the Island Express (train) which leaves Bangalore at 9.30 pm and gets you in Cochin (the train station is called Ernakulam) the following morning.

To see the Taj Mahal which is in Agra, you would need to fly to Delhi. Bangalore is a very long way from Delhi and flights dont come cheap. From Delhi, it would take another couple of hours to get to Agra.

First of all Dont Fly Air Deccan. Take an early morning flight on Saturday from Bangalore to cochin, organize a car and a driver for the two days, and fly back Sunday evening back to Bangalore.
    Airfares are reasonable.
Car and Driver is not expensive.
Stay at a heritag.com place like Ballard Bungalow in Fort Cochin.

if you wish to leave on a friday night, take the evening express that will take you to cochin in the morning. it is a rather pleasant journey. book in 2 AC sleeper. very reasonably priced. I wanted to take the train but was unable to book it from Paris.
I am spending two days in Bangalore and two days in Cochin next month ( attnending the jewish holidays in cochin). flying into BLR from CDG, one night and one day in bangalore, night train to Cochin, two nights at Ballad Bungalow, fly to Kuala Lumpur via colombo.

Remember the airport at cochin is fairways away, about 40 to 50 km.
By the way if you look for a guidebook called Weekends away from Bangalore, which is sold at major bookstores in bangalore, you can get many other suggestions to visit places near Bangalore for the weekend.

    Good Luck, Cochin is lovely.
