Skiing at Auli ???

We are planning a skiing trip to Auli for 3-4 days in december/january.

Can someone please give some pointers on the best time to visit, expenses, organisers and any other infor that may be relevant..we are all guys and dont expect too much luxury, just 100% adventure :-) .

Also I have heard that Auli is the best location for Skiing in India, are there some other options available.

I am an amature and have never tried skiing before (altough I can skate well ;-)

Auli is one of most popular ski resorts and winter sport destination of Uttarakhand. Since you are amature and have never tried skiing before this is the best option for you as they have 7 to 14 day extensive courses to train you in skiing. I don’t know about December but in Jan and Feb the snow is at its peak and the slopes are covered with a thick snow even upto about 3m deep.

So please enquire with GMVN about the status before going. Also they have a skiing festival and national championship in Feb.

Other destinations in India for skiing is Gulmarg. You can check this link
    for more details

I have heard that in the month of January skiing is also organised in Rohtang, although they have no cable car facility so one has to first climb on the top with skiies load and then have the pleasure of sliding back down :-)

    Also
Manali, Narkanda, Kufri and Shimla are some more places for Skiing in Himachal Pradesh. Kufri, in particular, is better known as a skiing resort. Skiing equipments and coaching can be easily made available by HPTDC and other private agents.

but as suggested by suresh, auli definitely tops the chart.

Auli is the better option for Skiing which starts at late november, but due to global warming & climatic changes it depends on the snowfall, which may occur anytime during winters..no doubt, auli has the best slopes in the world i advise to suggest GMVN before planning ur trip……….
